The Mayer family started doing business in the area between Paldski Road and the current Tulbi Street in 1889, i.e., in the year when the construction of the famous Eiffel Tower was completed in Paris. The factory, known as Woldermar Mayer’s Widow and Son, initially produced milk powder, which was quite extraordinary worldwide at the time. Later, the factory developed into a powerful chemical plant of international reach. After the Mayers, several other businesses operated in the area. The first building in the quarter was also called Woldemar.
The vison of the Mayer Business Quarter was created by the architects Kalle Rannula (KPME OÜ) and Ralf Tamm (Realarhitektid OÜ), who took into consideration the legacy of the chemical factory, which operated in the quarter more than 100 years ago. Vessels and a flowing chemical mass filling them and connecting them – the exterior shells of the structured building volumes and the active space within. The motif of vessels is materialised in the metallic robe of heat treated steel plates.

The dental practice Dr. Pajula Hambaravi has been operating in the current Mayer Quarter since 1995. I see the location as the strength of the area. It is quite close to the city centre and there is also free parking. The office building itself is modern and contemporary.
